Would you like to check out whether your insulation is working in the roof and walls without climbing up in the ceiling? For $20 our volunteers will come and visit with our thermal camera and identify walls and ceilings that are different temperatures because of poor insulation. We can also demonstrate  the advantages of  curtains and the problems with down lights. Go to the following link to register your interest.

Identify areas of poor insulation.
The above is a photo of a ceiling in one house with the normal image on the left, the thermal image in the middle and the temperature profile taken along the black line on the right. You can clearly see that there is a section without insulation which is considerably colder than the rest of the ceiling. You can even see where the rafters give some insulation.
Identify areas of poor insulation.
This photo shows that someone forgot to put insulation on top of their manhole!
Picture
The optical image on the left is actually of the floor boards. The spots on the thermal image are paw prints left by the dog!

This initiative has been made possible by a $5,000 grant from the Banyule council.
