Level Crossing Removal Project

(LXRP)  - Hurstbridge line
Serious concerns for Montmorency railway duplication in the wildlife corridor. We are facing total destruction of the distinctive local character of our suburb. The appalling lack of communication or real community consultation is what would have been expected in the dark ages.
All we want is the best railway duplication solution for this hilly leafy suburb where the train line runs through a recognised wildlife corridor.

Solar Installation Projects

The first solar installation project was implemented in June 2017 and involved the installation of 25 kw of solar panels at Aralauen, a local no- for-profit group. The solar panels where founded by donations that they pay back with the savings from cheaper electricity rates.

In 2018 our solar panel installation project won Pick My project to install $100,000 worth of panels on Community Groups in the Banyule Area.

The Banyule Gardener's Almanac

Throughout 2013, gardeners attending the Montmorency Food Swap recorded information about what they’d planted and harvested in their veggie gardens, key tasks they’d done and any challenges they’d come up against. This information was brought together and printed in this beautifully illustrated annual garden guide.

Walks through Monty

In 2017, we designed the Walks Through Montmorency project to explore the importance of the preservation of our local heritage- both natural and human.

We received a Council grant to establish this project- enabling us to employ a local historian to provide background information on the indigenous and European history of the area. The Friends of Monty Bushlands provided information on significant vegetation and nature reserves. In 2018, our project team of volunteers explored and mapped suitable walking routes and led the walks.
